We are conveniently located in beautiful Waikiki just east of all the hectic crowds and hustle and bustle of the city. Unless requested other wise, we meet at lifeguard tower 2F next to the Queens Surf Cafe and Lanai. This location is ideal because it is within walking distance of most any hotel in Waikiki and yet just far enough away from all congestion and crowds of central Waikiki. This allows our our students to learn to surf in a stress free and safe environment. Our location provides long, gentle rolling wave that is perfect for begginers, as well as a long peeling left on the outside break that is great for intermediate and advanced surfers.
Who Can Learn to Surf?
Whether you are “never seen the Ocean” brand new to the sport, or a seasoned surfer gearing up for a competition, Island Surf Academy will help you move up to the next level. We offer two of the best hours you could possibly spend taking a private surf lesson. Our Lifeguard certified instructors will show you step by step how to paddle out, maneuver through the surf and safely catch and ride waves with efficiency and ease.
Novice
Surfing for the first time is one of the most fun memorable experiences any one can have. If asked most all surfers can tell a great story about their first wave. There can also be a fair amount of nerves, apprehension and fear involved. Our instructors realize this and follow a tried and true program to make your first surf lesson is as amazing as possible. We will have you standing up and surfing by the end of your lesson.
What to expect: LOTS OF FUN!!!
Our lesson will begin with a half hour land demonstration and orientation to surfing. During this time, students will learn the basics of the surf board, how to paddle, how to catch and successfully surf a wave and most importantly, how to be safe in the ocean.
The next hour and a half will be spent in the ocean implementing these techniques. Our instructors will guide you out into the surf and push you into your first wave and coach you up to your feet and from there coach you towards becoming a safe, independant and happy surfer!
Intermediate to Advanced
Island Surf Academy offers training and coaching to help intermediate and advanced surfers boost their surfing to the next level. Whether you are looking to see your competition results improve or just looking to crank that cutback a little harder with a little more flair, we can customize a program to achieve your goals. This includes filmed sessions, work out plans, and equipment suggestions.
